More than a decade ago Theresa developed an interest in contemporary art and impressionism, and was initially self-taught. Influenced by the work of Graham Painter, by whom she was later given some tuition, her work developed a unique and candid style, working with emotive and bold colour palettes. Theresa has since been influenced by the work of United States’ Wolf Kahn and United Kingdom’s Ken Howard amongst many others.
The work maintained a level of detail, and evolved with the movement away from the Hampshire, landscape where she was based. Theresa developed into oil and acrylic, increasing the range and scope of the landscape compositions and the construction of a studio in St Ives in Cornwall, has enabled her to encapsulate the range of seasons by the sea.
Empowered by the location and state of flux in colour that the area promotes, her recent works reflects the soul and emotion, moods and contrasts that this brings.
